Scott Rigby Delivers Keynote at GiGse 2015 Conference
Scott Rigby, gaming psychology expert, delivers keynote at 2015 GiGse Conference on Why Mobile Games are Winning Mindshare.
“To improve player retention” Rigby notes that “developers must understand player motivation and engagement at a higher resolution, both conceptually and in the data they collect to improve design and innovate great player experiences. The distinction between “intrinsic” vs. “extrinsic” motivation is increasingly a focus of conversation and strategy..and understand[ing] the building blocks of motivation in a way that is clear, accurate, and practically useful [is the key to] building great game experiences.”
Rigby’s presentation centers on understanding the fundamental psychology that can be applied to keep players playing and build long term, profitable relationships. He will cover what the data says about the strengths and weaknesses of multiple motivational approaches to building longer and more satisfying relationships with customers, and link these concepts to numerous game examples from online and social games.
